Rainbow Sprinkle Donuts!
Ingredients:
1 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 package yeast
1 egg
1/4 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour
vegetable oil
1 cup rainbow sprinkles
Instructions:
In a small bowl, warm milk until it is lukewarm. Add salt and sugar, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5 minutes until the yeast has dissolved and is foamy.
In a large bowl, whisk together the milk mixture, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Add 2 1/2 cups flour, whisking until the mixture is smooth.
Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for one hour.
Once the dough has risen, heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. To test if the oil is hot enough, stick a wooden spoon in the oil. If the oil bubbles around the spoon, it is ready.
While the oil is heating up, use a small spoon to scoop doughnut batter and carefully drop it into the oil. Fry the doughnuts for one minute on each side.
Remove the doughnuts from the oil and let them cool on a wire rack. Once they are cooled, dip the doughnuts in a bowl of rainbow sprinkles.
