– 1 bolillo roll or French Baguette
– 1/2 lb of thinly sliced flank steak
– 1/4 cup chopped white onion
– 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
– 1 sliced avocado
– 1/4 cup refried beans
– 1/4 cup crema or sour cream

Marinated Steak:
– 1/2 lb of thinly sliced flank steak
– 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice
– 1 tablespoon minced garlic
– 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
– Salt and pepper to taste

Salsa Verde:
– 2 medium sized tomatillos
– 1/4 cup chopped white onion
– 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
– 1 JalapeƱo pepper (or to taste)
– 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
– Salt and pepper to taste

1. Preheat your grill or grill pan on medium-high heat
2. In a large bowl, combine the ingredients for your marinated steak. Make sure to mix well so the steak is coated in the marinade. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
3. In a blender or food processor, combine the ingredients for your salsa verde. Blend until smooth. Set aside in a small bowl
4. Grill your steak until it reaches desired temperature. For this recipe, I recommend grilling for 3-4 minutes on each side.
5. Slice your bolillo roll or French baguette in half horizontally. Spread the refried beans on one side of the bread and generously add the grilled steak slices on top.
6. Add sliced onions, chopped cilantro, sliced avocado and a spoonful of your salsa verde on top of the steak. Drizzle with crema or sour cream.
7. Close the sandwich and press lightly.
8. Enjoy with a cold Mexican beer or a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon.
