Fresh Fig and Honey Tart Recipe

Fresh Fig and Honey Tart is a delicious sweet treat popular around the world, especially in Europe and the United States. This tart has a buttery crust and a sweet and creamy filling with a hint of fresh fig and honey. The fresh figs add a unique and delightful flavor that compliments the sweetness of the honey. The tart is perfect for a special occasion or just for a treat.

Making the Tart Crust Gluten-free

Traditional tart crusts can easily be made gluten-free by simply swapping out the regular all-purpose flour for a gluten-free flour blend. To make the crust gluten-free, use an almond flour or a blend that contains rice flour, tapioca starch, and fava bean flour. As long as the flours in the blend do not contain rye, wheat, or barley, it should work wonderfully for the tart crust.

Making the Filling Vegan

For vegans, the filling of the Fresh Fig and Honey Tart can be easily substituted with a vegan alternative. To keep the sweet and creamy texture of the tart, a thick dairy-free cream can be used, such as coconut cream or soy cream. Since this tart uses honey as a sweetener, it is important to use a vegan-friendly honey substitute, such as maple syrup or agave nectar. Substituting the honey with one of these alternatives will make the tart vegan friendly.

Baking the Tart

Once the tart crust and filling are prepped, the tart can be assembled and ready for baking. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place the bottom crust in a tart pan and spread the filling evenly on top. Cut the fresh figs into thin slices and place them on the tart in a pleasing pattern. Bake the tart on the middle oven rack for 25-30 minutes or until the crust has turned golden brown. Let cool before serving.

Serving the Tart

Fresh Fig and Honey Tart is best served warm. Before serving, top the tart with a drizzle of honey, a sprinkle of something crunchy, and a dollop of sweet cream. Enjoy!
