Making The Cuban Sandwich Gluten Free

For those with a gluten sensitivity or intolerance, a Cuban Sandwich can still easily be made but with a few minor adjustments. To make it gluten free, you will need to replace the French baguette with a gluten free alternative such as a gluten free ciabatta or gluten free sandwich bread. For the pork and ham, it is best to opt for the 100% gluten free options, such as those labeled “gluten free” or using ham deli slices that are verified to be gluten free. This way you can enjoy this delicious meal option without having to worry about any gluten related issues.

Making The Cuban Sandwich Vegan

For vegan versions of the Cuban Sandwich, the pork and ham can easily be replaced with vegan-friendly alternatives. Tempeh strips, store bought vegan deli slices, or vegan pulled jackfruit are all great options. If vegan mayonnaise isn’t available, mashed avocado is a great substitute. You can also replace the sharp Swiss cheese with a vegan variety, such as a soft and creamy vegan cheese. Finally, for the butter for grilling the sandwich, it can be replaced with a vegan butter, or an oil and vinegar mixture. With these easy adjustments, you have a delicious vegan version of the classic Cuban Sandwich to enjoy.
